Career events and insight days

British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS)

We host successful National Employment & Careers Fairs across the country and our aim is to continuously introduce the Armed Forces community to companies and try to ensure they are fully aware of the benefits of employing from this community.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

BFRS is a Community Interest Company (CIC). We are a Social Enterprise that was created to work in support of the Armed Forces community. We support them by working with companies across the UK that are looking to hire, re-train, and offer career advice to them. A CIC is a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community (for us the Armed Forces community), rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. CICs tackle a wide range of social and environmental issues. For us it to ensure the Armed Forces community are not disadvantaged due to their service.

NHS Step Into Health

Step Into Health has been created because the NHS recognises the transferable skills and cultural values that the armed forces community develop, and how they are compatible with those required within NHS roles.

Step Into Health is open to all service leavers, veterans and their families. It is an incredible opportunity in which employers are working with the armed forces community to provide career and development opportunities within the NHS. Whether you are interested in catering, maintenance, administration, finance, communications, management, or a role in one of the clinical services, to name but a few, this programme will benefit you. The NHS is keen to invite you to explore your transferable skills and the potential training and career opportunities available.

Step Into Health has launched a new online system to help members of the Armed Forces community transition to a new career in the NHS. The online system allows service leavers, veterans, reservists, cadet force volunteers and their families to register their interest in an NHS career and connect with NHS organisations. Interested candidates can record their skills and experience as well as their location preferences and preferred work areas. NHS organisations which are part of the Step Into Health programme will be able to see interested candidates’ profiles and invite them to information days and set up work placements.

If you are a clinically qualified individual who has previously worked or been registered with General Medical Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council or General Pharmaceutical Council and wish to return to the NHS, please visit . Thank you.

Access the new system and connect to Step Into Health here.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

At the heart of the project is a commitment to showing the positives of life within the Armed Forces Community.

It aims to stop the social isolation of running a business combined with operational service life and works towards inspiring all military spouses, partners and other-halves (Milspo) in business.

It was launched in 2018 by a military spouse in business, for ALL military spouses, partners and other halves, and is supported by The Royal British Legion and Small Business Britain.
