Career events and insight days

British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS)

We host successful National Employment & Careers Fairs across the country and our aim is to continuously introduce the Armed Forces community to companies and try to ensure they are fully aware of the benefits of employing from this community.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

BFRS is a Community Interest Company (CIC). We are a Social Enterprise that was created to work in support of the Armed Forces community. We support them by working with companies across the UK that are looking to hire, re-train, and offer career advice to them. A CIC is a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community (for us the Armed Forces community), rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. CICs tackle a wide range of social and environmental issues. For us it to ensure the Armed Forces community are not disadvantaged due to their service.

NHS Step Into Health

Free

Step into Health has been created because the NHS recognises the transferable skills and cultural values that the armed forces community develop, and how they are compatible with those required within NHS roles.

Step into Health is open to all service leavers, veterans and their families. It is an incredible opportunity in which employers are working with the armed forces community to provide career and development opportunities within the NHS.

Whether you are interested in catering, maintenance, administration, finance, communications, management, or a role in one of the clinical services, to name but a few, this programme will benefit you. The NHS is keen to invite you to explore your transferable skills and the potential training and career opportunities available.

St. James's Place Academy

The Academy's two-year career change programme is aimed at successful second careerists who want to retrain to become qualified financial planners and then either run their own wealth management business or join one of our many established Practices as an Adviser.

The programme begins with six months of blended learning followed by a period of face-to-face mentored training in the field. The first few weeks provide a full introduction to financial planning and wealth management, and equip delegates with the study skills needed to achieve qualification.  No financial services background required.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

  • We will be coordinating the signing of The Armed Forces Covenant post General Election.
  • Working towards receiving acknowledgement from the MOD Employment Recognition Scheme (Gold) in 2020.
  • We hold military specific Academy events to highlight our retraining and career change programme.
  • The Academy has strong bonds with ex-military personnel and are proud to have trained many ex-servicemen and women to successfully graduate from the Academy programme.
  • We are partnered with many military support organisations.
  • We have established a SJP Military Network (90+ employees and SJP Partners (financial advisers) from across all the services) which manages our military affiliation across the SJP company.
  • Due to launch our SJP Military LinkedIn page.
