City of Glasgow College

Description

Our Commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

City of Glasgow College has been a long-standing supporter of Defence, growing links locally with Regular and Reserve personnel including the University Service Units, since its inception in 2010.  The College signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2022 following the formal establishment of an Armed Forces Network, and achieved the Gold Employer Recognition Award in 2025.

The College provides a welcome home for the City of Glasgow Sea Cadets, and employs a wide mix of Veterans, Reservists, Adult Cadet Volunteer Instructors and ex-MoD civilians.  The Student body has former Cadets and Adult Cadet Volunteers amongst its number.  The AF Network provides a supporting framework for anyone from the Defence family, including spouses, with a range of supportive HR policies in place.  The College plays a very active role in a wide variety of civic events and Defence related events eg Armed Forces Days, Remembrance and Merchant Navy Day.  The College is an authorised ELCAS provider.

About us

City of Glasgow College is Scotland’s largest technological and professional skills college. Its award-winning twin-site super campus in the heart of Glasgow offers outstanding resources and opportunities for students to gain essential skills for their future careers.

Since its multi-college merger in 2010, the college has enabled over 100,000 graduates to acquire recognised qualifications, engaging with employers, business, industry and education partners to build a curriculum of over 1,200 flexible-study courses across four faculties.

Innovative approaches to teaching and learning enable personalised development across a range of subjects on campus and online. Up to 8,000 graduates leave the college each year, with over 90% of students progressing directly to further learning, apprenticeships, or employment.

As Scotland’s Super College, it is renowned globally for its work in the maritime and food and hospitality industries and is recognised nationally for its award-winning activity in procurement and creative industries. Its ground breaking blended curriculum helps address sectoral skills shortages and gender gap stereotyping across a number of areas including early education and childcare, construction and STEM subjects.
