Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Our commitments to supporting the Armed Forces Community are at the heart of our work and our workforce understands this. Each member of staff has tasks designated to them to ensure that we proactively monitor our commitments to the Armed Forces Community, such as ensuring our website’s information on Armed Forces support is kept up to date, ensuring outreach marketing is visible in our local area and that we include Armed Forces organisations in our project and event discussions. Donnington and Muxton Parish Council has had a special long-standing relationship with the MoD Brigade Ordnance Depot ever since it was relocated from Arsenal during WW2 as it is situated within its boundary. Local residents have worked here for many years, and this has been passed down through generations. Staff and Councillors are encouraged to participate in local Armed Forces Events and the Veteran’s Café’s breakfasts. It supports its local TA and cadet forces, manages and maintains its two war memorials, and participates in Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Services.
About us
Donnington and Muxton Parish Council is one of many Parish and Town Councils in the UK which are the first tier of local government and are incorporated bodies established by legislation. It comes under the unitary authority of Telford & Wrekin Council and, as such, is part of a two-tier local government structure, each with different responsibilities. The Parish Council has an important role to play in providing service delivery responsibilities such as allotments and community halls. It promotes its area, representing its interests and supporting the work of different groups in the community. It is also responsible for Donnington and Muxton Community library.
The Council runs its business through executive and non-executive committees. Working groups comprising councillors and members of the public support the work of the Council as and when required.
The Parish Council aims to improve the quality of life for the residents of Donnington, Muxton and The Humbers by ensuring that it is a desirable, thriving and sustainable place in which to live.
