Peterborough City Council was established as a unitary authority in 1998, having previously been part of Cambridgeshire County Council. As a unitary authority, the council holds the combined powers of a non-metropolitan county and district council.
Our city is home to a vibrant community, with a population of 193,980 as estimated by the Office for National Statistics in 2015.
