Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Peterborough City Council have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and hold the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.  As a council, we recognise the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families bring to our community.

Our commitment includes:

  • Promoting the Armed Forces Covenant on our Careers Website
  • Actively supporting the employment of veterans, reservists, and military spouses/partners. We offer guaranteed interviews to service veterans applying for vacancies.
  • Support with relocation for those who would need to move to the area to work for the council.
  • Promoting the Armed Forces covenant through internal and external communications.

Peterborough City Council is dedicated to upholding the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant and ensuring that our Armed Forces community receives the recognition and support that they deserve.

About us

Peterborough City Council was established as a unitary authority in 1998, having previously been part of Cambridgeshire County Council. As a unitary authority, the council holds the combined powers of a non-metropolitan county and district council.

Our city is home to a vibrant community, with a population of 193,980 as estimated by the Office for National Statistics in 2015.
