Location: HMP & YOI Doncaster, Marsh Gate, Doncaster DN5 8UX.
Working Week: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 17:00 Shift based
Salary: Up to £10,000 per annum plus benefits & 25 days annual leave
Apprenticeship Qualification: L3 Business Administrator Standard
Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 18 months minimum

Here at Serco we are looking for an Apprentice Administrator to join us at HMP & YOI Doncaster, Yorkshire. Working within the busy Offender Management Unit/Public Protection Unit.
As our new Apprentice Admin Support Officer, you will work alongside Case Support Team and Public Protection Officers. Conducting interviews with prisoners on entering custody, supporting Prison Offender Managers, gathering information ready for release. And monitoring phone calls/mail within the Public Protection Unit
Other key duties include:
- Contributing to the delivery and achievement of all performance measures, contract outcomes and locally agreed targets including KPI's/CDIs as outlined in your personal development review.
- Ensuring that all grievances are reported to your line Manager when dealing with workplace concerns.
- Committing to personal training and development, to ensure that your skills & knowledge are maintained at the appropriate level.
- Complying with all policies, procedures, and legislation applicable.
As part of the apprenticeship scheme we'll provide you with L3 Business Administration and L2 Functional English and Maths training (all delivered by our Apprenticeship team at Serco). You will develop the skills you need for the job by working alongside your colleagues and getting hands on experience.
To be successful in this role you will need to be organised, able to plan and prioritise and be a real problem solver! So as well as excellent IT skills you'll be someone who is thorough and organised in your working approach and be comfortable in dealing with multiple tasks at once.
The role requires a pro-active, well-organised and confident individual with a methodical approach to problem solving along with maintaining good working relationships with colleagues both within their immediate team and throughout the establishment, along with partner agencies based internally and externally. We are seeking an individual who will relish the challenge of working within a specialist administration team so your ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbally) as well as being a committed team player is vital in keeping your internal customers happy.
We use a variety of online tools and technology, so you'll be happy working with MS Office Suite and can easily turn your hand to online systems and tools. Lastly, you'll need to have between an A* and E in Maths and English (or 9 to 2 under the new grading system) and have a strong interest in Business Administration.
Things to consider
Whilst this role will allow partial remote working, it is essential that you are able to travel daily to HMP Doncaster to arrive on time for work. (Subject to Covid-19 social distancing arrangements).
Meaningful and vital work: You'll provide efficient administrative support to the Discipline team within HMP Doncaster Prison processing all paperwork in relation to prisoners custody.
