Here at Serco we are looking for an experienced Administrator to join our OMU department at HMP & YOI Doncaster. Reporting directly to the OMU Hub Manager, you will process the administration of prisoners into custody in a timely manner, ensuring they are held legally with relevant paperwork from the Courts and other Criminal Justice Agencies.

As our new Admin Support Officer, you will ensure information is kept updated throughout a prisoners period on remand or sentence in custody such as sentence calculations, HDC suitability, licence recall and the processing of licences and releases from custody. You will also process release and licences both at the end of sentence, and any immediate release through court direction (including bail, non-custodial, acquittals and time served). Other key duties include:

  • Checking warrants/paperwork issued by the court and in timely manner and accurately record the information in the prisoner's paper and computerised Core Record.
  • Identifying those scheduled to attend Magistrates and Crown Courts on a daily basis in line with Court direction.
  • Updating information following any court appearances and calculate sentences if/when received by the courts and be involved with the assessments of suitability for Home Detention Curfew (HDC).

What you will need to do the role:

This role is a fantastic opportunity in a fast-paced environment, for someone who is confident in their ability to work alone using their own initiative, as well as maintaining good working relationships with colleagues in their team. Clear communication skills are key - both written & oral as you will produce written work to a high standard, that will be used when liaising with key stakeholders.

IT literacy is one of the most important aspects of this role so advanced levels in Microsoft Word & Excel will be required to enable you to complete your role competently.
