Job Description

Right now, we're looking for a Part Time Chemistry Support to contribute to the delivery of safe and efficient operation of the CHP plant through provision of chemistry support services. In this role you'll provide chemistry advice and guidance to the operational shift teams. As well as ensuring water, steam, condensate and cooling water analysis is carried out and sample results are communicated to other interested parties appropriately and delivered in a timely fashion.
Within this role you'll be carrying out routine sampling and analysis in accordance with Company and Statutory standards, this is to ensure the integrity of the asset, such as ensuring water quality requirements are met for all plant operation. You'll also play a key part within the team to provide advice on tests carried out on a day to day basis to ensure the plant keeps within regulation, as well as having an input when new/changes to processes are adopted within the plant.

Other key responsibilities include:
Development and review of Site Procedures and standards;
Provision of occupational health & safety service to the station encompassing COSHH, Noise, gas testing.
Carry out the required tests to ensure safety entry for work in Hot Environments.
Ensure Cooling Tower chemistry is analysed and maintained and provide advice to the site on L8 requirements.
Ensure water quality is analysed and liaise with site Production co-ordinator / operations team if any additional action is required
Ensure condition and calibration of all Lab Equipment is kept in date.
Ensuring stock checks are carried out of all lab reagents and laboratory equipment and ordered when required.
Ensuring stock checks are carried out of site bulk chemicals and re-ordering is requested at the correct timings.
Ensuring Safe Entry into Confined Spaces by carrying out Selected Persons Reports (SPR)/Atmospheric Tests.
Provide Chemistry support to any future projects for example Tata Chemicals European (TCE) Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) Plant.
Chemical Tanker Offloading when required.

  • Minimum HNC or BTEC Equivalent in Chemistry 
  • Understanding of a water treatment plant process in particular De-mineralisation and Reverse Osmosis  
  • Ability to interpret engineer drawings
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • Must have previous experience in a chemistry role with knowledge Power Stations/Boiler Chemistry and Water Treatment Plant Process.
