Serco delivers vital healthcare support services around the world - from the operational management of hospitals to the optimisation of patient experience and flow. Our experience reaches across acute, community, primary and private healthcare, increasingly with voluntary and social care partners.

Serco provide back office support services for James Cook University Hospital which include a variety of Soft FM Services including Catering, Housekeeping & Domestics, Ward Hosting and Portering. JCUH is a Total FM Contract so we also provide the Hard FM provision including Electrical and Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance of the hospital estate. We are looking to recruit for an Assistant Commercial Manager at the site on a full-time basis.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the commercial and contractual aspects of Serco's Total FM contract at James Cook Hospital. This includes supporting all commercial activities relating to Project Co and the Trust, including involvement with payment mechanism (inc. KPI's) and variations; reviewing and interpreting contract clauses with Legal input as appropriate and supporting the business on matters of contractual interpretation with the objective of minimising risks, maximising opportunities and avoiding disputes; ensuring all projects and lifecycle commitments are commercially robust.

This unique role provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to hone their skills in Commercial management by operating within the Serco Health Business Unit adding value to both shareholder and Serco Group by exercising diligently commercial judgement and business management. 

What you'll need to do the role

First and foremost, you will have experience of working within Facilities Management, ideally in a PFI contract environment. You should have proven commercial experience within facilities management, including pre and post contract work with a focus on pre contract deal making and contract review.

The ideal candidate would be Degree educated or equivalent or have relevant experience as described above.

The Assistant Commercial Manager would need to be an effective communicator and have customer relationship skills, including possessing a high level of diplomacy
