Playing a key role in building and shaping a new Issues Management Capability within the Controls Office, the successful applicant will work in the Issues Management Office and is responsible for assessing, logging, monitoring, and validating the closure of open control and risk issues for the Chief Operating Office (COO) and, where applicable, wider Important Business Services across the RFB Group. They will also manage the co-ordination of audit related engagements across COO.

The difference you'll make.

  • Maintaining a single and central framework for the management of issues within COO / the RFB Group.
  • Ensuring that control and risk issues are assessed and logged.
  • Ensuring that Action Plans established for control and risk issues are adequate; providing on-going monitoring to ensure remediation is closed on a complete and timely basis. Performing validation checks to ensure required remedial action has been completed.
  • Supporting the Senior Manager in ensuring the effective reporting and escalation of the status of issues, action plans, and audit requests. Driving a reduction in past-due actions and reduction in risk.
  • Ensuring Internal Audit and External Audit requests are effectively managed, working with Business Units and Risk & Controls Partners to ensure these actioned on a complete, accurate, and timely basis.
  • Helping to drive a rigorous controls culture across COO and Important Business Services through the timely and effective remediation of control and risk issues.
  • What you'll bring.
  • Experience in governing and monitoring the remediation of risk and control weaknesses (issues).
  • Strong understanding and experience of managing risk and control.

It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Strong planning and organisational skills to track the high number of open issues across COO and Important Business Services.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to constructively challenge and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with / engaging with Internal Audit and External Audit stakeholders and managing related interactions.

What else you need to know.

Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or videoconference where possible.

This role is currently office based/Home based until corona virus restrictions are lifted. When restrictions are lifted, you will be required to work a hybrid model between home and our offices in Milton Keynes or London. However, we do offer flexibility and other locations will be considered.
