Are you hard working, organised and looking to work as part as a team? If so then we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Practice Nurse role in Surrey.

Acting as the Nurse you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary primary healthcare team delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel on visiting the Medical Centre; and 24hr general nursing care whilst in-patients within the Medical Reception Station (MRS).

You will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence.

Furthermore, you will work within the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct and adhere to all NMC standards and Ministry of Defence (MOD) policies and guidelines.

As the successful candidate your main duties include but are not limited to: •Maintaining accurate electronic/written records in accordance with best practice and regarding confidentiality. They will conform to NMC Standards for Record Keeping, Defence Medical Services policy and local guidelines. •Triaging and treating minor injuries/illness as per agreed evidence-based practice, Patient Group directives (PGD) and adhering to agreed policies and guidelines. •Administering immunisation and monitoring medications consistent with Surgeon General (SG) Policy, Defence Medical Services (DMS) Policy, DPHC policy, PGD's, standards and legislation. •Providing advice to patients on minor ailments and general health. •Organising staffing and off duty for the MRS including liaising with Nursing Agencies, nursing staff and DPHC as appropriate.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Please be aware that if you are found successful you will be asked to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B.

It is essential that the successful candidate has experience in Registered Nursing, has Professional/ clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level, with live Registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.
