The Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) at Queen Elizabeth Memorial Health Centre, Tidworth require an experienced Band 7 Civilian Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join their friendly team.
The position offers 37.5 hours per week.
As the post holder you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary primary healthcare team delivering advanced primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health, whilst being the lead nurse within the medical facility (MF) and will be the focal point for Primary Health Care nursing issues.
The successful candidate will have line management, training and clinical supervision responsibilities for military medics, junior practice nurses, HCAs and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the role include but are not limited to:
•Planning and managing complete episodes of care; undertaking independent comprehensive assessment and management of service users to incorporate pharmacological considerations; making complex clinical decisions regarding service user management and clinical outcomes.
•Delivering services to aid independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical decision making and planning of care and treatment, diagnosis, prescribing, health promotion and safe admission or discharge of patients.
•Providing expert clinical advice, leadership and support ensuring the needs of the service are met by exercising and demonstrating high levels of clinical judgement, critical analysis and advanced decision-making skills.
•Leading as a driver for change, to monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research and education.
•Working autonomously using advanced levels of history taking and examination skills within multi-disciplinary team, guidelines and protocols. Utilise advanced clinical skills in assessment and/or formulate a diagnosis and/or treatment plan.
•Leading with the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Family Planning, Diabetes, CHD and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
•Assisting the practice team with maintaining an effective recall system for Immunisation/Chronic Disease/Cytology.
•Managing the development of plans to meet the health needs of patients including diagnostic tests; treatment plans, health promotion and prevention.
•Leading in men and women’s health screening and education along with provision of family planning services.

•As the successful candidate you will require highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience; and professional knowledge acquired through a degree supplemented by specialist training, experience, short course to master's level equivalent in relevant field.
•Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
•Advanced Practice Nurse qualification/ Post Graduate diploma in Advanced Practice or success accreditation with the RCN or actively working towards this.
•Registered Non-Medical Prescriber.
•Relevant teaching qualification or demonstrate equivalent level of competency.
•Learning and Assessing in Practice qualification or equivalent Practice Assessors training.
There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
