DPHC is a vibrant and fast-moving organisation that aims to provide the very best primary healthcare to Defence personnel and in some locations, their families and dependants. In addition to General Practice, DPHC provides rehabilitation services, occupational health advice and community mental health support. The patient population is generally young and healthy and much of the work relates to travel health, occupational health, minor injuries and sports medicine. Duties of this post include, but are not limited to; Providing safe, evidence-based, cost-effective and individualised patient care. Undertaking technical nursing treatments for patients with complex/specialist healthcare needs e.g. wound care, smear tests, woman’s health, prescribing, X-ray referral, hospital discharges etc. Triage and treat patients with minor illness/injuries. Co-ordinating care of patients, referring to and liasing with other agencies and disciplines. Being responsible for the management of data input and storage of data within the Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP) system. Taking the lead in training and development for all nurses and external colleagues attached to AGMC. Performing enhanced nursing skills such as, prescribing, secondary care referral, physiotherapy referral and post hospital reviews. Managing the recruitment of nursing staff – permanent and locums. Co-ordinate the leads with the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Family Planning, Diabetes and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register. This is a Full Time Only Qualifications and Memberships Applicants must hold the following qualifications and licences; Degree plus additional specialist training or experience to Masters level or equivalent. Professional/clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level, plus specialist clinical, managerial training. Line Manager of a single function or department encompassing a large number of clinical staff Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The candidate should show evidence of extensive experience at Band 6 in primary healthcare. Selection Process Details The selection at sift stage will be CV based.
