We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Physiotherapist based at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall, Stanford on Soar, Loughborough.
DMRC provides a key element of the tiered Defence Medical Rehabilitation Programme, delivering concentrated residential rehabilitation for complex musculoskeletal disorders and injuries (MSKI) including complex trauma, rehabilitation following neurological injury or illness, and in-patient care for joint and soft tissue disease. It also provides education and training in military rehabilitation and is the home of the Academic Centre for Rehabilitation Research.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
Acting as an independent and autonomous practitioner providing a high standard of physiotherapy service at DMRC and within Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC).
Providing full support to the Team Manager and Physiotherapy Professional Lead Advisor (PLA) ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for referred personnel. This includes undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the rehabilitation of patients with complex pain and/or medical conditions.
Acting as clinical physiotherapy lead for the management of complex pain and/or medical conditions.
Identifying and initiating training in this highly specialist area to other members of staff.
Completing admission summaries, review letters and referring to other medical and health care professionals (e.g. GP’s, surgeons, physiotherapists, prosthetists, podiatrists).
Acting as an independent and autonomous practitioner in assessing, developing and implementing physiotherapy treatment for specialist caseload. Providing advice within the specialist field to professional colleagues within the inter-disciplinary team (IDT), where this may involve advising changes to treatment programme/care plans set by others within the IDT.
Taking the lead in implementing both development and change in policy for services and rehabilitation groups and subsequently how clinics are changed and developed. Organising and implementing specialist physiotherapy services and management of specialist team/section.
Taking the lead in identifying training needs and organising in-service training both within the physiotherapy department and the IDT.
The successful candidate must hold the following:
Degree in Physiotherapy plus additional specialist training or experience to master's level or equivalent.
Professional membership of the CSP.
