About the Department

Our SSEN Distribution Asset Management team consists of Asset Risk Management and Equipment Specification. They are involved in running a programme of projects exploring new technologies and commercial arrangements across network activities and identifying practical solutions. They are also involved in operating some of the new solutions that have been developed by the innovation team. The project portfolio is predominantly funded by the Low Carbon Network Fund or the Network Innovation Allowance which requires considerable management and governance to ensure compliance.

What is the Role?

As Cable Feasibility Technician, you will be responsible for the design of a number of capital projects from initial high level scope, cable route feasibility including managing legal environmental and consent, cable system design, CDM and Safety management, financial analysis and forecasting and assisting with the construction and closure phases. This will include all of the Drawing requirements and on site surveying activities.

What do I need?

You will have experience in the design of linear schemes up including and an appreciation of the designing and drawing aspects of complex projects, understanding the financial and reporting aspects of projects. A minimum understanding of Surveying and AutoCAD will be required.

Excellent communication skills are essential and previous experience in applying the Construction Design, and Management Regulations 2015 to technically complex projects would be highly advantageous. There will be a requirement to work to tight timescales, and provide first class customer service at all stages of the project; therefore, the ability to thrive under pressure is essential. It is also important that you have an eye on long term development, and are able to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.
