Permanent (Full-Time, 40 Hrs)



Here at Serco we are looking for an experienced Cleaner to join us at HMP Dovegate, Uttoxeter to work within the Cleaning Dept. Reporting into the Cleaning Manager, you will be required to clean all areas that are assigned to the cleaning schedule and maintain cleaning stock within designated areas. This is not a prisoner facing role. The areas to be cleaned will include for example, administration and officer areas. You will also comply with health & safety cleaning procedures and carry out any other duties as directed by the Cleaning Manager.


As part of your role you will operate equipment and machine tools safely and according to their training i.e. vacuums, buffers & wet vac machines whilst also maintaining a record of these within the department. Other duties will include ensuring various schedules are kept up to date, whilst also reporting any discrepancies as and when required. From time to time, you may be required to undertake other duties that may be delegated to you but will fall within your ability, experience, and training. Other key activities will include:


What you will need to do the role:


To carry out this role successfully, you must have good communication skills. A key part of this role is to be able to work through tight timescales and use your own initiative, so you need to be confident in prioritising your workload in a logical and methodical manner. You will also have:


  • British Institute of Cleaning Services (BICS) desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

  • Basic Health & Safety qualification

  • Previous experience essential
