About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Our Marine Sector Procurement & Supply Chain strategy is focused on the continuous improvement of its people, processes and systems in creating leading operational excellence. As the Continuous Improvement Manager you'll be employed in the delivery of this strategy.

Using your experience in Supply Chain and Change management you'll be tasked with standardising functional processing systems. Working with multiple Business Units the focus of your role will be the delivery of standardised and simplified process against the Supply Chain operating model. Acting as the Functional Process Lead you'll manage the standardisation programme, engaging with operational teams in the capturing and defining of best practice and translating these into agreed policy, process and systems change.

What do I need to do the role?
Ideally you'll have a degree/HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Formal CI and CIPS qualifications, or working towards are preferred.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Continuous Improvement / Six Sigma &/or Lean background
  • Scaled experience of simplifying and standardising processes and systems
  • Extensive project and change management experience
  • Extensive Supply Chain management experience
  • Stakeholder management experience

Lastly, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to engage effectively with teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
