Control Centre Operative
Full Time, Permanent 40 Hours / part-time available
Here at Serco we ensure that the court system in the region runs on-time and in a way provides security to staff, the public and detainees alike - and as one of Control Centre Operatives you'll be an important part of making that happen.
From our base in Gloucestershire you'll help to control the movements of custodies as they are delivered and returned from courts, police stations, prisons and hospitals. You'll do this by processing data relating to these movements, preparing daily schedules, and managing the deployment of vehicles and crews to ensure that all custodies are delivered on time and in a safe and compliant manner. You'll also be on hand to support our crews throughout the day by answering calls, troubleshooting transportation problems, and issuing communications to the teams and their destinations.
As we're always up against the clock the work can sometimes be urgent and pressurised. You won't be doing this alone though. As well as guidance from your team Supervisor you'll also have the support of our tight knit and supportive team and crews.
What you need to do the job
With a cool head and an eye for detail, you'll be a confident communicator with experience of working in a pressurised environment, and no stranger to working to service levels and targets. If this has been gained in a transport or logistics environment, then that would be a considerable advantage. You'll also be in possession of a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English and be comfortable working on computer-based systems.
Lastly, because of the nature of our work you'll need to be able to pass a full security and vetting clearance process.
Meaningful and vital work: With over 15,000 prisoner movements a month across Serco, the justice system relies heavily on us to deliver them safely and on time.
A world of opportunity: Serco's contract is about to expand to cover 104 courts and 16 vehicle bases, meaning that there has never been a better time to join us.
Great people: Our bases are tight knit and you'll find yourself working with a variety of highly supportive and experienced people, where no two days are the same.
