Digital Library Developers - 10347

Salary (S6 Grade): £27,924 to £32,344 per annum, plus £2,166 per annum London Weighting

Full time, permanent

The Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAS) invites applications from service and strategic oriented individuals for two Digital Library Developer vacancies.

Whilst these key posts are within the Library Services department, with focus on providing day to day technical support and maintenance of software and applications, they also offer a rare career development opportunity in a technology-rich environment for graduates in ICT or related subject areas.

The post holders will ensure that our portfolio library systems are maintained and optimised, and will also develop and implement new technologies to seamlessly deliver library resources to users. The successful candidates will enjoy solving interesting problems, experimenting with new ideas, and will have a strong customer focus.

Although these positions will report to the Digital Services and Innovation Manager, you will be collaborating widely with Library Services staff, Information Services Directorate (ISD) technical staff, web development colleagues, vendors and students as and when required. You will be expected to investigate, identify, test and implement technologies that deliver library services in line with rapidly changing student and staff requirements and the ICT landscape.

Successful candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Computer Science or related subject area and have proven ability to collaborate and enhance the performance of a team of professional staff, including contributing to the development and deployment of effective KPIs to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved. It is essential that you also have experience of working in Higher Education and an awareness of wider University, HE issues and external technology trends which could impact the service.
