The role:

To meet our vision of achieving far-reaching, progressive change and impact through learning, we are seeking to recruit a highly organised and methodical Specialist Teacher to join the Group Learning Support team in Surrey, based at our Guildford campus.

Group Learning Support works with young people who face barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs and those with an EHCP. This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students and providing the support needed in order to ensure that they can achieve.

Responsibilities include:

  • Timely start to finish processing of exam access arrangements, including administering assessments, to meet JCQ and awarding body requirements
  • Contributing to the professional development of staff through the delivery of CPD and sharing good practice
  • Delivering additional learning support for learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and disabilities individually or in small groups as required

We offer a friendly and supportive working environment, where no two days the same, staff are valued and CPD is provided.  This is a part-time position Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 08:30 - 17:00, 22 hours a week, with a 16:30 finish on a Friday.


What do you need to be successful?  

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised Level 7 (postgraduate) qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties.  Strong team values, a desire to innovate within the learning experience and the ability to adapt flexibly to the changing needs of learners are essential.  You will possess experience of SEND, study skills support and teaching numeracy and literacy.  You will be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to manage data.  Excellent communication and organisation skills are required alongside a high level of attention to detail.  To be able to communicate with learners from varied backgrounds and of different abilities is a must.  You will also demonstrate an excellent customer service ethos and be extremely proficient at managing your time
