Sitting within a beautiful and secure site, the Defence Academy hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland. The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.


Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and the majority of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.

Working within the Serco Estates Team, the Electrical Manager will be responsible for managing a team to deliver electrical operations across the estate.



Essential requirements for the role:


  • Significant demonstrable experience in a similar role at manager level
  • A relevant formal qualification in electrical and/or building services engineering
  • Electrical AP status in LV and/or HV, SAP experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate, CDM experience
  • Supplier Framework Agreement experience
  • Development of FM CAFM Systems
  • Line management experience with a high level of motivation, energy, drive and enthusiasm
  • Excellent knowledge and application of H&S and Environmental matters, with particular relevance to those impacting the construction industry essential
  • Detailed understanding of relevant regulations, legislation and standards
  • Excellent planning and organisational ability with an analytical, financial and numerate approach to problems, ability to effectively communicate at all levels
  • Demonstrate clear decision making in a timely manner based on facts and sound rationale
  • Highly evolved time management skills in order to meet demanding programmes of work
  • Highly literate and experienced with IT, demonstrating ability in MS Office - including Email, Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Previous MOD experience with an ability to demonstrate clear understanding of relevant MOD JSPs highly desirable
