Would you like to play a key role in managing the physical integration of complex Combat Systems into a cutting edge warship design? Our Global Combat Ship has been chosen as the design for Canadian Surface Combat (CSC) and we currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Combat Systems at our site in Scotstoun.

As an Engineering Manager -Combat Systems you will be part of the CSC programme that will design the latest Surface Combatant for the Canadian Navy. Your role will be critical in the delivery of the Physical Integration detailed design output of identified sub systems within the CSC Combat System. This will involve management of margins and budgets, such as weight and electrical demand, within the whole ship design.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a large scale international programme and across the whole ship design, collaborating closely with a range of key stakeholders, including the Commonwealth of Canada. You'll also have a chance to grow your existing experience and develop a long term career supporting a key programme for BAE Systems.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Combat Systems will involve:

Assist Senior Engineering Manager with the management of the CSC Combat System (CS) Team to deliver the design and definition of the CS physical integration requirements.

Act as a stakeholder in the development of the Systems Engineering end-to-end process to deliver the CSC CS Physical Integration Strategy.

Identify Safety risks and mitigation actions for CS Physical Integration in support of ALARP statements. Identify technical risks and propose mitigation actions for the CSC Combat Systems Physical Integration area of responsibility.

Act as the technical lead in the preparation of responses to CS Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) from the customer, ensuring all stakeholders responses are collated.

Assist the CS Technical Authority with the management of the wholeship Platform design intent, ensuring all Design Standards are maintained for the Physical Integration of the CS.

Essential skills and qualifications:

Degree in engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent

Experience of systems engineering lifecycle from an engineering management position

Working in physical integration side of the project - involvement in detail design

Experience working in a complex project

Able to perform robust analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements based on experience - System Architect, DOORS

Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Project Management techniques

Desirable skills and qualifications

Knowledge of appropriate engineering development methodologies, strategies, standards and codes of practice

Naval Ships/defence experience

Chartered status or working towards

Member of a recognised Institute such as IET or INCOSE
