Within our team, we are currently recruiting for a Vessel Superintendent to support our specialized fleet of three vessels at our Barrow-in-Furness site. Working purely at this site, with minimal travel away, you will be tasked in delivering safe and efficient Technical Management across this contract.
With control of the technical budget of the vessels, this individual will be key in the development of robust annual technical plans and their financial outcome.
The Vessel Superintendent will work closely with the Contract Manager in driving operational efficiency, while being able to monitor current plans (both financial and technical) to ensure that current targets are met.
What you'll need to do the role
Holding a Class I Certificate of Competency and/or a Degree in a Marine Engineering related discipline, this is an opportunity for someone who holds a strong level of knowledge as well as experience in a similar position, to have a real impact on our team.
With extensive experience as a Sea-going Engineer in senior rank, the successful individual must also be comfortable with leading and managing a team. As the go to person for all technical matters, you will have a calm and logical manner.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years shipmanagement experience in a shoreside role, working with ships trading worldwide with a variety of vessel types including tankers.
Experience with medium speed engines, Amos, Shipnet or similar, Drydocking, from developing repair specification to closing out final costs and monitoring Class and Flag status, and arranging surveyor attendance, is required.
Due to the nature of this position within the contract, Budgetary management experience is also required, as well as the ability to build and develop strong working relationships with stakeholders. Monitoring submission of requisitions, approving supply subject to budgetary constraints, and following up delivery.
You'll need good interpersonal skills in order to develop close relationships with ships staff, vessel owners as well as internal and external support functions.
