An exciting opportunity to join the Academic and Professional Studies leadership team at Activate Learning, as a Faculty Manager with responsibility for driving forward the quality of our Health and Social Care, Early Years and Business pathways at Reading College.

The successful candidate will lead their team in the planning and delivery of an engaging, diverse, and high-quality curriculum, which has been co-created alongside our carefully selected employer-partners, to support learners to progress academically and into industry to meet their ambitious career aims. They will focus their team on developing the skills, knowledge and attributes needed by our learners to make every one of our them highly employable.
The faculty of Academic and Professional Studies delivers career focused pathways across areas such as: A levels, Access to Higher Education, Business, Caring and Health, Counselling, Early Years, GCSE, Professional Studies, Science and Travel, and through levels 1 to 6.
The role includes a proportional teaching commitment within the faculty. Experience of teaching within one or more of the sector areas identified within the role would be desirable.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
You will already be a highly effective, qualified teacher and will understand what makes for effective learning. In your teaching, you will value the importance of developing and maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge and have a wider awareness and understanding of effective pedagogy. You will use this understanding to lead a team in creating the conditions for high quality teaching, learning and assessment and to role model high standards in your own teaching, learning and assessment.
You will have experience of leading colleagues to develop their practice and to improve the student experience; this may have been gained through formal roles or relationships, but if not, we would still be keen to hear how you have led these changes with colleagues more informally. You will confidently have honest conversations with others, using appropriate coaching approaches.
Continuous learning and development will be central to your approach as a teacher and leader and you will be passionate about your own and others' development, sharing this curiosity and enthusiasm with your students and colleagues. Your outward looking approach will enable you to liaise with colleagues across our Group for the benefit of your peers, colleagues and students.
You will have a commitment to high standards and expectations and will set and model these whilst supporting colleagues and students to surpass them. You will understand the importance of strong interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain strong and successful relationships with your students, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
