Field Services IT Engineer
HMP Thameside Base Location with UK Travel required
£28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience

As our Field Services Engineer, you'll play an essential role in making sure all technical support in ITS is delivered to service excellence.
You will as a Field Services Engineer effectively deliver ICT projects in the area. This will involve the installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware and software used both remotely and within the field. The role will also involve input into the planning and delivery of projects and new technologies. Subject Matter Expert technical support will be provided to assist in delivering services in line with Serco's standard service catalogue and best practice processes to achieve service excellence.
Day-to-Day you will be undertaking system repairs from the point the call is assigned to then undertaking system fault findings, diagnosis, repairs as well as providing comprehensive failure reports detailing the investigation, fault resolution and any follow up work that may be necessary. On occasion you will provide scheduled routine maintenance and embody system upgrades and changes to the deployed systems where necessary.
The role is a Technical role and the individual will be recognised for their leadership and Technical capability in selected technologies
Field Service Engineers will operate within a defined geographic area and as such will require regular travel. They may also require occasional travel outside of the assigned region to support other Teams.
What you need to do the job
The ideal applicant will be a confident communicator providing technical information and support and thrives working in a hands on and dynamic environment. You will have good attention to detail, a strong process driven mindset, great interpersonal skills and enjoy finding solutions to issues, adding value to an organisation.
You'll need a strong knowledge and practical expertise across a wide section of IT Infrastructure, Applications and Service technologies. Experience and Understanding of Application Support and diagnosis. Experience of working in an operational team providing application support. Experience of successfully leading technical evaluations, providing expert input and informed experience in the deployment, maintenance and management of technologies. Lastly, you'll need experience of resolving technical issues, acting as 1st and 2nd line support for operational and project support, including leading the resolution where there are 3rd parties involved as part of the delivery. Lastly, you'll need to be available for out of hours on call rota.
