Job Description

Join us as a Financial Control Analyst  

  • We’ll look to you to control our financial ledger through policy setting, as well as control, risk and systems frameworks, leading to the delivery of the balance sheet and related externally disclosed statutory information
  • You’ll support the execution of all financial transactions to make sure they are appropriately recorded and substantiated to reflect a true and fair position
  • This role is available for a period of 12 months

What you'll do

This role will see you executing processes as per process notes and standard operating procedures, highlighting any discrepancies. You’ll support change initiatives, process improvements and in-system implementations related to individual processes and applications. You’ll also provide and support input into the end-to-end control and ownership of franchise and legal entity balance sheets.

As well as this, you’ll:

  • Maintain relationships with other statutory reporting locations and key stakeholders
  • Support the delivery of a full substantiation and reconciliation of the balance sheet and profit and loss accounts within a controlled framework
  • Provide input to and support process improvements, ensuring existing work and development activities are the focus of continuous improvements
  • Support systems testing such as user acceptance testing, and system or process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain up-to-date procedural documentation, and provide resolution of finance user queries and daily activity support to Finance teams
  • Make sure processes and procedures adhere to the appropriate policies and control environment, including SOX governance, and update SOX packs regularly

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for an expert in commerce with proficiency in financial accounting, and an understanding of revenue, balance sheet, costs, and headcount measures. You’ll ideally hold a management degree, or a CA, CS or CWA qualification, and you’ll have a background in financial control, reporting processes and accounting.

In addition to this, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of financial services, the banking industry and related products
  • The ability to make sound decisions and judgments to resolve problems
  • An awareness of our policies and external legislations, such as SOX, and risk and control frameworks
  • Experience of delivering core financial control and reporting outputs, including ledger close, balance sheet substantiation, statutory and management reporting, and external audit
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including good Excel skills
  • The ability to respond to ad-hoc queries to own and resolve problems
