Job Description

HMP & YOI Doncaster, Marshgate

Salary: £25,755

Permanent (Full-Time, 40 Hrs)

Here at HMP & YOI Doncaster in Marshgate, it takes a whole team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper working order. As our new Services Officer, you will report into the Facilities Manager and work alongside a Works Service team of multi-skilled Engineers.

As part of your role you will ensure that various pre-planned maintenance schedules are kept up to date and maintained as well as related routine maintenance and repairs, but within the capabilities of your ability, experience, and training. As FM Services Officer you will need to operate machine tools safely and according to your training of installed equipment within the works service workshops. Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the members of the maintenance team with their activities on other plant and apparatus.

  • Escorting contractors around the site as and when required as per written instructions.

  • Carrying out all duties assigned in a safe manner, observing all statutory regulations and local regulations.

A key part of this role is to be pro-active and this will be achieved by commitment to customer satisfaction and striving for continuous improvement in your working approach, including the ability to prioritise workload, using your own initiative and working in a logical and methodical manner to tight timescales. You will also need to be confident in your ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both in writing and orally.

What you will need to do the role:

The role of an FM Services Officer is varied, and no two days are the same, so we are keen to find someone who has extensive hands-on experience in general maintenance & repairs, that can be transferred into their daily working life. Ideally you will have previously worked in a similar role or custodial environment and be able to hit the ground running.

It would be desirable for you to hold relevant certifications or licences that will allow you to aid in other areas such as Carpentry, Joinery, Plumbing and Electrical. As you will be assisting in multi-trade support within the team, it is important that you have a flexible and common-sense approach to work, as the role will include being a member of the facilities Out of Hours' call out roster, as and when required.

You must have the commitment, passion and be willing to play your part in the opportunity to progress and develop your career with a world leader in FM. Overall, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a supportive team and taking pride in what they do, as we are a tight-knit unit within the Prison.
