This role offers the opportunity to join AFF’s Foreign & Commonwealth team, which provides qualified and expert immigration advice to non-UK serving personnel and their family members.
Given the expert and qualified nature of the advice provided by the F&C team, it would be desirable for the successful candidate to already be an Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) Level 1 qualified immigration advisor, with knowledge and understanding of Appendix HM Armed Forces of the Home Office Immigration Rules. If you don’t have the qualification there will be – for the right candidate – the opportunity to study for and complete the IAA Level 1 accreditation, supported by AFF.
You’ll be the first point of contact for non-UK serving personnel and their families seeking immigration advice, enabling them to make decisions with clarity and confidence. You will provide support and advice to them and will guide them through their immigration journey from visas to enter the UK to obtaining citizenship.
You will support non-UK serving personnel and their families to access immigration information by ensuring that the information on the Foreign & Commonwealth pages of the AFF website is kept up-to-date and liaising regularly with the Communications team to make any changes.
You will play a critical part in ensuring the specialist has the evidence to raise emerging issues with stakeholders, decision and policy makers on immigration matters.
The post is 35 hours per week and a permanent home-based role (UK only). Unfortunately, due to the difficulties obtaining employer’s liability insurance overseas, it is not possible to offer this role to a candidate based outside the UK.
The annual unqualified training salary will be £25,000 and would increase on successful completion of the IAA Level 1 qualification, which you would need to complete within 12 months of appointment. Further salary enhancements are available if qualification to Level 2 accreditation was achieved.
If you are already IAA qualified, please contact Tracy Connolly at recruitment@aff.org.uk to discuss the role responsibilities and remuneration.
