This Geospatial Network Records Site Surveyor will report to the Geospatial Network Records Manager and will work within the Strategy Regulation and Support Services directorate based in our eastern region. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £37,165.00 and a bonus of 3%.

You will cover the Stevenage / Bedford / Cambridge Area and can be located in the nearest office to their home and the working area.

Job Purpose

The GIS Technician Site Surveyor will be accountable for the information recorded on site of alterations, additions or removal of assets on the Network. The information will be recorded on the Workflow tool and validated for capture on our Smallworld Geographic Information System (GIS) named NetMAP and associated systems.

To maintain NetMAP and associated systems ensuring that data on the systems conforms to documented requirements and is captured following the relevant data capture specification. Keeping this up to date to provide an accurate geographic record of our electrical assets to the required operational, safety, regulatory and statutory requirements

Your role will also involve receiving records and forms from the business, contractors and Independent Connections Providers, validate them against specified acceptance criteria alongside any information they have recorded on site and provide the complete as laid record to the Geospatial Network Records Team for update.

The function will also undertake quality assurance activities and reconciliation checks across our asset systems (SAP CRM and PowerOn Fusion). In association with this, there will be the requirement to operate a number of processes to investigate and resolve data quality issue through close interaction and collaboration with the business.

Dimensions

You will be part of the Geospatial Network Records Team but working with five others to cover the EPN Area attending site to record Network changes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Site surveying and recording Low Voltage (LV)/ High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) covering major projects, fault work, new connections and complex work in the field

  • Perform site surveys for the Geospatial Network Records Team

  • Provide training to field staff and contractors in site recording techniques

  • Communicate with customers

  • Assess field work for accuracy and completeness before undertaking processing into NetMAP and associated systems within prescribed time limits

  • Support and facilitate GIS records assurance and audit activities to ensure compliance with associated procedures.

  • Assess field work for accuracy and completeness then undertake data validation of all network updates received from the business before its issued to update teams

  • Missing information process administration and associated business interaction.

  • Resolve problems with asset information management through the use of IT and other information management resources.

  • Qualifications:

  • Experience in Site Recording, Surveying Techniques and be able to produce Site Drawings.

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in drafting techniques or subjects, e.g. GIS, Cartography Surveying, Art or Design

  • Schedule own time on a daily basis by planning of efficient daily route for undertaking surveys to deliver tight turn-around as laid records.

  • Awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements, both in putting oneself to work and in identifying main issues during surveying

  • Formal street works training & qualifications is expected (e.g. CSCS card)

  • Full UK Driving Licence as your role will involve travel to sites

  • A practical understanding of the electricity distribution network, plant & equipment at all voltages

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft desktop applications, including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Good general education - to GCSE standard

  • An understanding of GE Smallworld (NetMAP) or similar proprietary GIS systems with a basic understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data.

  • GIS data capture, the network records and business rules associated with updating NetMAP

  • A determination to raise the standard and quality the GI System (NetMAP)

  • It would also be considered an advantage if you had experience in;

  • SAP CRM & SAP PM (Ellipse)

  • Workflow Management Tools or Tracking Databases
