We are looking for a Head of Commercial Services to join our commercial team in Leavesden. You will be responsible for all aspects of the commercial function including staff competencies and their development together with ensuring the requisite control processes and procedures are in place and followed to support the profitability of the Operating Unit (OU). 

What you'll do:

  • Under the direction of the OU Commercial Director and in conjunction with the OU Commercial Leadership Team and the Legal department
  • Provide commercial input to the Business Plan focus areas as appropriate
  • Continue to develop Understanding and Applying the Deal processes
  • Assess and action commercial training/ development requirements of the commercial and operational teams
  • Undertake Main Contract Commercial Reviews at PQQ and tender stage and support the appointed commercial resource in this regard as appropriate
  • Maintain Main Contract register (including associated documentation)
  • Manage signing and sealing authority process
  • Ensure Digital Documentation storage as necessary
  • Prepare Insurance returns and ensure consistency in approach of reporting claims
  • Act as Key Contact for the BU Insurance Broker
  • Work in conjunction with the Finance and Procurement Department to work through issues with timely payment associated with implementation of ERP
  • Management of OU Contingent Liability reporting for Group
  • Owner of Commercial Portal
  • Ensuring this is kept up to date with project information forms, insurances held amongst other matters.
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Director and Commercial Services Group (CSG) develop and monitor the appropriate commercial professional competencies
  • Ensure commercial audit in place for assurance and improvement of commercial processes and informing staff training.
  • Manage and close-down legacy projects and issues associated with the same
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Leadership Team, Skanska Legal Department, Procurement Function and CSG to ensure all matters associated with changes in law, contract practise, legal precedent, are reflected in commercial management systems and best practice guides

  • Experience in bidding, contractual understanding, commercial management, budgetary control, Insurances
  • Excellent relationship management and networking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive internal and external relationships at all levels

  • Chartered Surveyor RICS or equivalent
