Within KMPT we have 3 Health Based Place of Safety suites based in Dartford, Maidstone and Canterbury. We are currently looking for 2 full time Band 5 nurses to join our team in Maidstone.

Main duties of the job

Within the Health Based Place of Safety, we work closely with Kent Police and the Approved Mental Health Practitioner service – this is because we work with individuals who are or may be subject to a section 136 detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007). We also liaise with a variety of other services both internal and external to the Trust to ensure we work collaboratively to aid patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Completing the admission process for individuals detained on section 136 MHA (1983, as amended 2007).

- Coordinating the shift and effectively managing the support workers on shift.

- Risk assessment and management of patients in the Health Based Place of Safety.

- Reviewing patient care and treatment; monitoring mental and physical state.

- Contributing to and following up on the MHA assessment and discharge plan.

- Supporting the acute wards when there are no patients within the Health Based Place of Safety. 

- Liaising with other services, such as Kent Police, to ensure effective patient care and safety.
