About The Role
About this opportunity
You will provide advise on health and safety issues relating to construction projects, including new builds, renovations and maintenance works – from project initiation to completion.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting business unit directors in delivering business objectives
  • Positively engaging with customers and developing, growing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Delivering high quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our customer’s requirements;
  • Managing projects to deliver high quality services and deliverables in accordance with the business procedures;
  • Advising and assisting the client with their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction related health and safety standards, regulations and legislations;
  • Notify details of the project to Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
  • Coordinating health and safety aspects of design work;
  • Cooperating with others involved with the project;
  • Facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors;
  • Liaising with the principal contractor regarding ongoing design work
  • Identifying, collect and pass on pre-construction information; and prepare/update the health and safety file;
  • Administering contracts as Contracts Administrator, or Employer’s Agent
  • Producing and presenting reports to customers;
  • Managing service delivery for profit;
  • Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or will arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance;
  • Actively identifying new business development opportunities and driving growth across the business unit activities

About The Candidate
Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
  • Sound construction related health and safety management experience post Tech IOSH qualification;
  • Good knowledge of construction methods and materials;
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of construction related health and safety management;
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation relating to construction;
  • Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written;
  • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work;
  • Good problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills;
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments;
  • Competent ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
