Skanska Hampshire Highways are currently looking for HGV Cat C (Class 2) drivers including CPC to work on the Highways Maintenance contract in Hampshire for on a permanent basis. This is an ongoing project where we will provide top of the range training to ensure you fulfill your potential.
The required candidate will have a HGV Licence and be committed to gaining training in winter maintenance to provide addiotnal support in the Winter months. This is a varied role, which will include covering areas such as Hook, Winchester, Petersfield, Southampton and Portsmouth, so you will need to be flexible in terms of travel.
In return, you will receive training and a competitive salary with earning potential of up to £30,000 per annum.
Please note, we are looking for both full-time, permanent staff, fixed term employees for six months and also zero hours contracted staff in order to meet the requirements for winter maintenance.
This requires you to be on standby undertaking a one in two ratio i.e. one week of standby followed by one week off
Undertake the gritting of the roads on the allocated route and all the associated activities of maintenance needed to deliver the Winter Service when called upon
Undertake out of hours winter maintenance and emergency works where required
Work on Highways furniture, equipment and similar fixtures (e.g. Erection, maintenance, fixing and/or dismantling)
Drive all of the plant and equipment necessary for the required disciplines for maintenance and drainage on Highways and Network
Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge
Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives
