Our HR Service

As a large and complex organisation we have a diverse range of issues and work hard to deliver effective and efficient HR services. Through this we have achieved lower than average employee turnover and absence levels and a strong working relationship with our Unions. However we are not complacent, public sector austerity has driven and continues to drive us to find practical solutions to modern HR challenges. We recognise as a HR service we must continue to work hard to coach, advise, partner and enable managers to meet their corporate and service delivery objectives. Balancing the technical, legislative aspects of HR best practice with the practical aspects of enabling the organisation to operate cohesively, maximizing performance and achieving customer service excellence.

North Yorkshire County Council has a reputation for delivering high quality services and our HR service is no exception. We are extremely proud to have an experienced, trustworthy and professional team of staff across both services with a reputation of excellence. In addition to our internal customers, we increasingly deliver services to a whole raft of public and private sector clients on a traded basis.

 The HR Shared Service Team

We are a small, busy team normally based at County Hall in Northallerton but currently all of our team are largely working from home thanks to the great technology and IT kit we are provided. The ability to travel across the county to deliver our service when required is however essential.
