About the role

Here at Babcock International, we are a market leading vehicle conversion specialist and manufacturer of armoured products. We have an excellent reputation for supplying customised products to the emergency services, civil service, military and other security focused organisations - based in the UK and overseas.

We work closely with our customers across a broad range of sectors to develop new and existing vehicle conversions. As technology advances or the intended role of the vehicle changes, we upgrade and commission the vehicle to the new specified level.

We are looking to recruit an International Automotive Engineer to carry out mechanical and electrical vehicle inspections, maintenance and repair on government officials armoured vehicles overseas.

Your responsibilities will include diagnosis, fault finding and repair/replacement of faulty equipment, including armoured glazing replacement. You will be responsible for in country parts stock checking and replenishment requests. In addition, generating concise and accurate handwritten and electronic vehicle reports.

This role requires frequent international travel including to areas of high risk. Overseas deployments may be up to four weeks.

Key Objectives:

  • Inspect armoured vehicles to UK MOT standard
  • Carry out routine service and maintenance
  • Provide clear and concise electronic reports on inspected armoured vehicles
  • Fault finding of electrical circuits and components
  • Diagnosis and repair of mechanical systems
  • Repairing or replacement of faulty parts

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in applicable automotive or mechanical field, hold automotive experience and have experience as a Vehicle Mechanic on mechanical/electrical commercial car repairs. In addition, it would be beneficial if you were an experienced MOT Tester.

What else do I need to know?

You must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role. This role will include international travel - 3 weeks abroad - 1 week in the UK (Travel, accommodation and food allowance paid for).
