Base Location: Reading or Havant

Salary: Circa £54,000 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 hours per week | Flexible working patterns available

About the Department

Our Procurement and Commercial team are responsible for helping the business to procure services and materials in a timely and cost-effective way. We work right across the SSE Group, ensuring our businesses gets the best possible service and value from our supplier network, as well as ensuring all service providers are compliant and continue to meet contractual obligations and business need.

What is the Role?

Reporting to the IT Senior Contract Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management and administration of contracts to ensure successful delivery in accordance with all internal policies and procedures such as the Procurement Manual, Commercial Manual and the LCP Governance Framework Manual. You will act as a Commercial advisory to leaders of IT Programmes and projects, facilitate relationships with Suppliers and manage their contractual delivery to ensure the successful outcome across a portfolio of Programmes and Projects. You will also support the delivery of IT and Procurement departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings in total cost of ownership, value engineering and safety & sustainability performance.

What do I need?

With an awareness of the commercial impact of decisions and the implications on procurement processes, you will have knowledge & experience of contract structure and documentation. Knowledge of UK Utilities Contracts Regulations is preferred. In addition, you will be degree educated (or equivalent) to a recognised appropriate professional body, IACCM qualified is desirable but not essential.

Experience managing a portfolio of 3rd party related spend of £10m or more and individual contract values of £2M+ per annum along with experience using procurement related systems (e.g. Oracle, Emptoris) you will have confidence to challenge the norm and think creatively. Tactful and diplomatic you must have the ability to interact effectively at all levels of SSE and with Vendors, both individually and as part of a team. With strong communication and negotiation skills, you should demonstrate the ability to influence and motivate others.
