Job Description

Our IT Team provide support for all areas of the Weston College Group, including 20 prisons that Weston College is the education provider for (19 as part of the Ministry of Justice Prison Education Framework contract and 1 G4S private prison).

There are several unique challenges of proving IT within prisons, including no internet or wireless services and the requirement for approval for all tools, equipment software and data.

As our Prison Education provision has expanded, so has our IT Team who support this area of the college. We are looking for an IT professional who has 3 years experience within a technical role, knowledge of Microsoft products and a passion for providing excellent IT support to join us as an IT Technician - Prison Education.

The successful candidate will co-ordinate and assist with duties such as:

  • The operation of the IT helpdesk;
  • The management of user accounts;
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of equipment;
  • Maintaining security measures;
  • Maintaining an accurate asset list.

As this role is within our Prison Education team, the successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance and maintain this throughout their employment. 

This role may require occasional travel to the Prison sites, some of which are not easily accessible by public transport, therefore, a driving licence and access to your own transport will be essential.
