The Role
As a Management Accountant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Reporting to the Fire Training Finance Manager, playing a pivotal role in support of three Fire Training contracts within the Land Training area; whilst being responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial operation and ensuring financial integrity of the contract accounting.
Day-to-day, you'll be supporting the financial requirements of the contract and the day-to-day operations team whilst also playing a key role in driving efficiencies. You'll also, be providing all aspects of the Business Facing Finance activities within the Fire Training Contracts and this is a major role within the contract performance with a focus on increased fidelity and financial performance and controls in relation to cash generation, budgeting, forecasting and reporting:
- Liaise with the Shared Service team (SSC) Operations and Senior Management teams.
- Role is link between Finance and the Contract Operational Team.
- Cost drivers from the operations need to be properly understood and communicated in the business.
- Financial management across all aspects of the of the contract and its operational sites.
- Reporting of the contract monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and requires regular travel to London, on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential Experience of the Management Accountant:
- Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review.
- Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed.
- Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Outlook.
- Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g. SAP, NAV (Navision, IFS etc.).
- Excellent communication skills particularly communication at senior levels and with the ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-Finance managers and staff.
Qualifications for the Management Accountant:
- You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
