Job Description

Applications are invited for the following post based at Whitby Harbour which is due to commence on 1 March 2021. The post holder will be required to work between 20 and 30 hours per week including weekend working. Applicants must be flexible and be prepared to work additional hours if required to cover leave and work bank holidays: 1 April to 15 September - 30 hours per week, 08.00 - 12.00 & 13.00 – 16.30 Wednesday to Saturday 16 September to 31 December - 20 hours per week, 08.00 – 12.00 Wednesday to Sunday 1 January to 31 March - 26 hours per week, 08.00 – 12.00 & 13.00 – 15.00 Wednesday to Friday and 08.00 – 12.00 Saturday and Sunday The ideal applicant will have general boating knowledge, be presentable, polite and customer focused and preferably be familiar with Whitby Harbour. The applicant will require a VHF radio certificate or be willing to obtain such a certificate. The post holder will be responsible for the routine administration of visiting leisure vessels, the marina and supplementary facilities, including the handling and recording of monies received. They will also ensure the associated facilities and pontoons are maintained in good order and to a high level of cleanliness. A good level of English and mathematics is required for this position and the post holder must be capable of working closely with the general public.
