Marketing and Sales Manager

Permanent

34 hours per week (37 hours per week FTE)

Salary: £40,150 - £42,011 (£43,693 - £45,718 FTE)

If you are reading this, then hopefully you might be the right person to come and work in our fantastic Communications and Marketing team!

We are looking for a positive, proactive, dynamic and creative manager to head up the marketing side of our team. No two days are the same, the work is extremely varied and provides an opportunity to market exciting projects both locally and nationally! You’ll be responsible for the management of a small team and overseeing the marketing of two key areas, our Heritage and Cultural services (including the Palace Theatre, National Civil War Centre and Newark Castle) as well as our commercial services (weddings, garden waste collection services and MOT servicing to name but a few).

You’ll be required to set and meet ambitious sales targets using your initiative to ensure you put your own stamp on things.  Ability to work in a planned and proactive way is key, but also being able to spin plates and react quickly is essential. There is a lot to market in Newark and Sherwood, from free activities to ticketed events and from multi-million-pound projects to heart-warming initiatives.  We believe there is something for all our residents and visitors… as long as they know about it!

We’re an ambitious, fast paced, forward-thinking Council, and the Communication and Marketing team cover a huge remit, beyond that of most local authorities.  We strive to do our absolute best to serve our residents, and we are proud of our organisational culture, receiving positive feedback from our employees.

Our benefits include:

  • Enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme.
  • Flexible working scheme.
  • Hybrid working.
  • A generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service.
  • Family-friendly benefits.
  • One days’ paid volunteering leave.
  • Lifestyle benefits platform.
  • Funded health cash plan.
  • Free car parking (until 30 June 2026)
  • £10 a month gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

You will be working with a professional and committed team who are passionate about supporting the Council to deliver our Community Plan. The role is for 34 hours per week to either be worked over 5 days or 4 days, Monday to Thursday ideally, but flexibility is essential for this exciting role.

To organise an informal chat or more information, please contact Sarah Lacey, Communications and Marketing Manager, via email sarah.lacey@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk
