Here at QinetiQ, we are currently recruiting for an incredibly exciting Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer. Within our Ministry of Defence sites based at our Kyle of Lochalsh, BUTEC and Applecross sites, you will have the chance to work across a range of projects. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to work on a number of trials with the potential to travel abroad.

These sites provide a range of test and evaluation capabilities as a part of our T3E contract. The BUTEC (British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre) headquarters use the waters of the inner sound between the Scottish Mainland and the Isle of Skye, carrying out both surface and underwater range tests for vessels, weapons and equipment.

What do I need?

You'll need experience in some of the following areas would be desirable, but not essential.

  • An engineering / Technical qualification: Apprenticeship C+G or NVQ Level 3 (within a relevant discipline).
  • Competent Microsoft Office User
  • Ability to solve technical problems and make decisions
  • Full driving licence
  • Years' experience within relevant fields would be desirable

What will I be doing?

You will have the opportunity to work across all disciplines with a key competency in mechanical maintenance. You'll be working to provide a range of maintenance tasks:

  • You'll be delivering preventive maintenance support within repair, and reactive tasks.
  • You will learn to provide some installation of planned, preventive & corrective maintenance across a range of site services, plant/equipment & buildings.
  • You'll form part of the on call rota team, carrying out on call duties for 1 week in 4 with the opportunity to earn overtime pay.
  • You will oversee the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementing tasks.
  • There will be various training opportunities including the chance to progress to Approved Person status; to deliver specialist technical support including the ability to work across heating, ventilation and BMS systems, oil fired boilers; and deliver support to various teams across sites making it an incredibly varied and exciting role.
