Initially based at our Bognor Regis Campus this role will work independently of our main team so it's essential you're a good "all-rounder" and able to combine a wide range of technical skills in building maintenance, have extensive trades experience and an organised, flexible, confident and proactive approach. Some work outside normal office hours will be required,  including occasional weekend working to support Open Days (For which time off in lieu will be given). In the future there may be an opportunity to join our on-call team for which an allowance would be payable.

The post holder will use a high degree of initiative and autonomy to undertake general building works and repairs, including general building trades, minor plumbing works, internal and external painting, grounds/garden maintenance and decorating and other premises related tasks which may be outside of your core trade. A high level of customer service is required to support our students, guests and staff and the University operates a "Don't Walk By" approach to ensure issues are dealt with quickly, safely and effectively. Project work will require you to work alone or as part of the larger team, so it's important you can communicate effectively with a range of people on a daily basis by email, telephone or face to face.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Larry Greenway, Assistant Facilities Manager, via email at l.greenway@chi.ac.uk or telephone 01243 812088.

This position will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented.

Interview Date: Thursday 23 January 2020

The University offers you a 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday; access to a range of training and development opportunities; discounted Gym membership; Local Government Pension Scheme; 25 days' holiday (rising to 27 days' in your fifth year of service), Bank Holidays and University closure periods (e.g. between Christmas and the New Year).
