NHS 111 Health Advisor (Call Handler)

One Career, Many Roles

111 Health Advisors are mediators, influencers, pacifiers and life savers – no two calls are the same.

As a 111 Health Advisor, you will take a variety of incoming calls from patients, providing them with an appropriate response to urgent healthcare needs within a timeframe. This could range from booking a GP appointment, advising them to attend an out of hour’s service or even dispatching an ambulance.

You need to be a good communicator with an excellent telephone manner. It is essential that you are computer literate and keen to learn new skills. You must be passionate about high quality patient care and be caring and able to remain calm under pressure.

You will also have the opportunity to grow your career, specialising in different areas such as coaching new staff, auditing or becoming a team leader.

It can be a tough job, but in return you will receive great pay, training, benefits and have the support of a strong team.

*We are offering a great basic salary of £20,330 (for full-time - part-time will be pro-rata) plus we are now offering a generous recruitment and retention bonus.

A £200 bonus will be paid once you successfully complete the 3-week initial classroom training.

An extra £300 bonus will be paid when you’ve been successfully signed off after your coaching and mentoring period (roughly 3 months after the classroom training).

A further £700 bonus will be paid when you’ve completed your probationary period (generally 6 months after coaching sign-off but in some circumstances this can be extended).

(The bonuses above are for full-time contracts and those on part-time contracts will receive a percentage of the maximum bonus e.g. for a 24 hour per week contract the first bonus would be £128. The second bonus would be £192. The final bonus would be £448).

The class room training and coaching periods are both full-time (37.5 hours a week).

After that we can offer contracts at 12, 18 or 24 hours a week.

On top of the great salary, you could earn even more!

During the week, hours worked between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. will be paid at roughly £14 an hour. It’s also £14 per hour for any Saturday hours.

Working on Sundays and Public Holidays will earn roughly £17.60 per hour

Training:

You will need to be able to commit to a  6-week full time training programme  which will be fully paid.

Course start date: Day and Evening training to commence in January or February onwards. The 6 weeks training consists of classroom based training, listening to calls and coaching in the call centre. The training will take place in 111 Milton Keynes for the classroom elements.

Pay rates:

Your annual salary will reflect the number of hours you work i.e. it is pro rata.
