Job Description

Here at Serco we're looking for talented individuals who we can grow and develop to become our next generation of highly skilled employees who can lead and inspire our workforce. Working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) and leading with our core principles of Trust, Care, Pride & Innovation, Social Care Access Service (SCAS) has positioned itself alongside the Adult Care Services commitment to provide excellent social care delivery to the citizens of Hertfordshire and we are seeking to recruit either newly qualified or experienced Occupational Therapists to join the team.

Working as part of a wider team, you'll partnership with our colleagues in HCC, NHS and local housing authorities across Hertfordshire, to provide assessment and recommendations for adult care.  This will include advising on major/minor adaptations, Disabled Facilities Grants, moving and handling and specialist equipment required.

You will receive a monthly work allocation; you'll need to contact individuals and their families to arrange assessment appointments. You'll assess people in their own homes, prepare written reports of the assessment, identify needs, plan, agree outcomes and take action to implement interventions.  As a Housing Solutions' resource much of our work is around adaptation to property or support and assisting local housing authorities to identify and assess suitability of alternative accommodation more suited to long-term needs.

What you need to do the job

You can be a newly qualified Occupational Therapist or come from an experienced background and will need to be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists and HCPC.  The role requires you to be mobile and as such you will need to hold a driving licence that enables you to drive in the UK.

There are clear progression and mentoring schemes in place which help provide opportunity to progress to Senior or Advanced Practitioner roles. We encourage you to take students and mentor unqualified staff; providing support and learning to others whilst developing your learning and experience. There are training opportunities to refresh and expand your knowledge. Some of the courses include single handed care training, safeguarding, moving and handling, mental capacity, plans and drawings for housing adaptation.  Further, the opportunity to attend OT forums and workshops, and for you newly qualified OT's there is a post graduate group.
