Operational Control Centre Supervisor
Full Time, Permanent, 40 Hours
Here at Serco we ensure that the court system runs on-time and in a way that provides security to staff, the public and detainees alike - and as our Operational Control Centre Supervisor you'll be at the forefront of making that happen.
From our base in Gloucester you'll take a day-to-day lead in controlling our vehicles and crews as they transport custodies to and from courts, police stations, prisons and hospitals. Working with your team of 10 controllers this will involve receiving prisoner transport requests and then planning and scheduling the movement of vehicles and crews to ensure that they can arrive on time and in a safe manner. Throughout this process you'll resolve problems with collection and delivery, provide support and guidance to your team, and ensure that we keep good working relationships with prison and police station receptions.
As we're always up against the clock the work can sometimes be urgent and pressurised. You won't be doing this alone though. As well as support from your team you'll also be working with our tight knit team at the centre.
This role works to a pattern of three to four 12-hour shifts, which will alternate between days and nights.
What you need to do the job
With a cool head and an eye for detail, you'll be a confident communicator with experience of working in a pressurised environment, and no stranger to working to service levels and targets. You have a background of working in transport or logistics, along with experience of leading teams - helping to create a positive team environment.
You'll also be in possession of a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English and be comfortable working on computer-based systems. Lastly, because of the nature of our work you'll need to be able to pass a full security and vetting clearance process.
Meaningful and vital work: With over 15,000 prisoner movements a month across Serco, the justice system relies heavily on us to deliver them safely and on time.
A world of opportunity: Serco's contract covers 104 courts and 16 vehicle bases and you'll be able to broaden your experience and apply your skills in new ways.
Great people: Our bases are tight knit and you'll find yourself working with a variety of highly supportive and experienced people, where no two days are the same.
