Job Description

Then come join the friendly team at Defence Primary Healthcare, Dental Centre Hereford. The successful candidate will primarily provide dental treatment, oral hygiene instruction & education, administration, plus work towards improving and maintaining the dental health of entitled personnel. Please note this position is part time 17.5 hours per week Thursday, Friday and alternative Wednesdays. The successful candidate will be entitled to a Market Skills Supplement of £5,750 per annum (pro rata for P/T) GDC Annual Fees are reimbursed Additional Benefits: Free parking, on site refreshment facility, gym membership with swimming pool. Duties of the role include but are not limited to: Providing dental hygiene treatment in line with their approved scope of practice as per GDC guidelines and in accordance with agreed patient group directive (PGD). Being aware of the duty of confidentiality placed upon hygienists by the GDC and understand the action that must be taken to protect patients’ confidentiality in accordance with the GDC’s Principles of Patient Confidentiality document including the 7 Caldicott principles. Working independently in accordance with DPHC documents and all other relevant policy and guidelines. Complying with all regulations as directed by the MOD. Complying with DPHC policy on working hours and complete tasks as appropriately delegated by your line manager (LM). Ensuring the surgery is prepared appropriately for the day’s patients in accordance with current regulations. Carrying out and recording daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies. Ensuring a daily test radiograph is taken and processed with all findings reported in accordance with extant policies and countersigned by a clinician or trained individual. Maintaining the standard and cleanliness of the surgery and accommodation for which they are responsible, reporting any deficiencies in accordance with local protocols. Carrying out dental work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided. This is in accordance with the Dental Auxiliary Regulations 1986, as amended by the Dental Auxiliaries (amended) Regulations 1991. The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of the following: Knowledge of range of oral health procedures; acquired through training to degree level or to diploma level plus experience to degree equivalent level.
