Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Part Time Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team at Worthy Down Medical Centre, Winchester.

This part time post will be in addition to the currently filled full time Pharmacy Technician post at Worthy Down.

The position is part time offering 18.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be providing primary and occupational Healthcare in line with GMC Standards ensuring that the organisational and Senior Medical Officer's objectives are achieved to optimise patient care for the Winchester Garrison Medical Group Practice.

Winchester Group Practice includes ATR Winchester, Worthy Down and Marchwood Medical Centres. This newly formed Group Practice requires the Pharmacy Technician to assist the 3 practices with Dispensing and Medicines Management. Working between the 3 sites may be a requirement.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to: •Providing a Pharmacy dispensing service for the Medical facility to entitled personnel so that the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) primary purposes can be achieved. •Working with the current Pharmacy Technician to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to IAW current Legal and defence policy. •Appropriately managing medications including ordering, receipt and disposal of medical material using a stock and expiry date rotation basis in accordance with current defence policy. •Liaising with internal and external agencies on all matters relating to pharmaceutical items. •Aiding in the development and training of clinical staff through placements or training.

Applicants must hold: •Registration with GPhC (achieved via NVQ Level 3/BTEC Pharmaceutical science qualification, or grand-parenting)– plus other additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions without further reference. Practical experience to be able to operate in a singleton post.
