About the role
Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are looking to recruit a Physicist based in Cumbria and working on major, complex decommissioning programmes at the Sellafield site. Sellafield is a large multi-function nuclear site close to Seascale on the coast of Cumbria, England. As of August 2020, activities at the site include nuclear fuel reprocessing, nuclear waste storage and nuclear decommissioning, and it is a former nuclear power generating site.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing Physics team within Cavendish Nuclear, the UK's leading supplier to the nuclear industry and a growing global force. The breadth of our expertise means we are able to offer unrivalled experience and specialist knowledge across all aspects of the nuclear life cycle, from design and build, through operations and maintenance, to decommissioning, waste management and remediation.
You will be part of a dynamic team delivering technical contribution to services, tasks and projects including producing, reviewing and verifying outputs such as: calculations, analysis results, reports, specifications and method statements. As a Physicist you will regularly liaise with other Physics/Project Team Members to develop ideas and co-ordinate input to projects as well as supporting business winning including maintaining customer relationships, developing opportunities and proposal preparation.
You'll plan, deliver and monitor assigned tasks and projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality and cost and capture and report learning from experience, during and post task delivery.

We are looking for someone with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and some industry experience as a Physicist OR; a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a PhD. Radiometric experience is highly desirable however not a necessity, training can be provided for the right candidate.
What else do I need to know?
* You will need to be based close to the site as regular visits will be required. We do offer working from home when possible.
* This position is a full time permanent position comprising of a 37 hour working week with flexible start and finish time.
* The successful candidate would be expected to travel to other sites occasionally
* The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role
