About the Role:
Porters must provide an efficient portering service within BARTS Whipps Cross University Hospital with their focus on patient care and escorting to and from departments and wards. You will ensure a safe patient journey throughout their stay and play an important role in patient recovery through social interaction daily. There will be a responsibility to safely dispose of waste, as well as deliver and move items such as records, mail, furniture, linen, medical gasses and other duties including but not limited to materials management and mortuary transfers.
It is important that you visually check equipment before use to ensure it is safe, clean and fit for purpose and keep a daily pre-shift electrical vehicle inspection sheet updated prior to the use of equipment. Porters must also use judgement, understanding and empathy required when attending to a patient who may require additional support during transfer.
The successful candidate will be looking for a manual role and must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including a good telephone manner. You must also have a valid driving licence. Some portering experience is also highly beneficial.
