Portering Supervisor

Permanent 

Full time (30 hours per week) Saturday-Tuesday, 22.00 - 06.00


Location: Barts NHS Trust, Whipps Cross University Hospital, E11 1NR

Salary £12.09 per hour

Our team at Whipps Cross University Hospital in London provide services to the NHS such as cleaning, catering and potering.

 

The Portering Supervisor will line manage a team of Poters, responsible for providing transportation of patients between wards and departments within the hospital and associate areas by wheelchair, trolley, stretcher or other means. Porters are also responsible for the transportation and connection of medical gas cylinders as well as collection and delivery of patient notes, specimens and x-rays.

 

The Portering Supervisor will be responsible for delegation of work, training and development, recruitment and reporting on the performance of the team. As a member of the management team they will also cover for other Supervisors during absence.

 

The Portering team work closely with NHS staff, and so the Portering Supervisor will be the escalation point for any issues or complaints from the nursing team.

 

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be flexible to undertake reasonable other site operational duties. 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience of supervising a team
  • Experience in a logistics or warehouse environment
  • Confident in communicating at all levels, with both internal and client staff
