Principal Quality Engineer - Field Engineer

Would you like to join The Supplier Assurance team to form part of the Quality Function to support the Astute and Successor Programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Quality Engineer - Field Engineer at our site in Barrow; with home working options.

As a Principal Quality Engineer - Field Engineer, you will take accountability for the audit, quality assurance requirements, product inspection and document release of procured parts at the supplier's sites. This involves understanding the quality requirements, the schedule and priorities and ensuring the provision of an inspection service in line with the above. The role is also accountable for ensuing that high-quality records are produced as an output of the production processes and inspections.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to add real value to the business and the customer. The team has responsibility for inspection across various suppliers and the diversity of the Stakeholder group and the complexity of the product make this a very challenging and interesting role.

This role will be majority travelling to suppliers UK wide and on occasion overseas. You will be eligible for an essential user car allowance, due to the extensive travel requirements of the role.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Quality Engineer - Field Engineer will involve:

Taking accountability for the audit, quality inspection and verification requirements and document release of procured parts at the supplier's sites

This will include:

Witness inspections (in accordance with ITP)

NDE Inspection - non-destructive examination

Witness of FAT - Factory Acceptance Testing

Witness of Pressure testing

Final documentation review

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Quality Engineer - Field Engineer:

Essential

Engineering, Quality or Manufacturing Background

Broad understanding of quality inspection techniques

Good IT skills

Problem solving and root cause analysis

Full UK driving licence

Commercial awareness

Desirable

Lead auditor qualified (LRQA)

Knowledge of business systems (inc. SAP and Team centre)

Proactive approach to quality and improvements

PCN Qualification or equivalent

Qualification

HNC level qualification or relevant experience

PCN Qualification or equivalent
